We recently completed a project for a customer in Telford, in which we installed a roofing system called a Bauder Roof. The Bauder name is synonymous for quality, design and service and our latest article explains this particular roofing systems benefits and uses.

What is a Bauder Roof

A Bauder roof is a high-performance roofing system that is created using a unique combination of materials that provide durability, strength, and insulation. These roofs are commonly used for commercial and industrial buildings, but can also be used for residential properties.

Materials

Bauder roofs are generally made from several layers of high-quality materials including a waterproofing layer, insulation, and a protective layer. The waterproofing layer is usually made from bitumen or synthetic materials that are designed to be weather-resistant and durable and the insulation layer is typically made from high-density foam that helps to regulate the temperature within the building and reduce heat loss. The protective layer is made from a range of materials including gravel, pavers, and vegetation and is designed to protect the waterproofing layer from damage and to help improve the appearance of the roof.

How is it installed?

This system is laid by skilled installers who carefully place each layer onto the roof. The process involves first preparing the roof surface to ensure it is clean and free from debris and then a waterproofing layer is then applied, followed by the insulation and protective layer. The layers are secured in place using specially designed fixings to ensure they do not move or become dislodged.

Longevity

Bauder roofs are designed to last for many years, typically around 20-30 years, depending on the quality of the installation and the materials used. With proper maintenance, these roofs can last even longer. Maintenance typically involves regular inspections to check for any signs of damage or wear and tear, as well as cleaning the protective layer to ensure it remains effective.

Benefits

The benefits of Bauder roofs are numerous. They provide an excellent level of insulation, which can help to reduce energy bills and provide a comfortable and consistent temperature within the building. They are also extremely robust and durable, providing long-lasting protection against the elements. This roofing system is also very versatile, with a range of protective layers available to suit different aesthetic preferences and functional requirements. Additionally, these roofs are often backed by manufacturer warranties, providing peace of mind for owners and managers of commercial and industrial buildings.

Green Bauder roof

A green Bauder roof is a type of roofing system that includes a layer of vegetation and other natural materials planted on top of the waterproofing layer. This type of roof is designed to provide a range of environmental benefits, such as reducing the urban heat island effect, improving air quality, and managing stormwater run off. Bauder is a leading manufacturer of roofing systems that incorporate green roof technology, and their systems typically feature a specially designed drainage layer and irrigation system to support the growth of the vegetation.

Green roofs have become increasingly popular in recent years, particularly in urban areas where green space is limited, and they are often used on commercial and institutional buildings. In addition to the environmental benefits, green Bauder roofs can also help to improve the energy efficiency of buildings by reducing the amount of heat absorbed through the roof

Environmental benefits of a Bauder Roof

Bauder roofing systems have a range of environmental benefits. Firstly, they are designed to be long-lasting, reducing the amount of waste created from replacing roofs. Secondly, the Bauder green roof systems help to reduce the urban heat island effect by providing a cooling effect and absorbing water, which also contributes to reducing surface runoff and stormwater management. In addition, Bauder insulation is made from recycled content and is recyclable at the end of its useful life.

Bauder also offers renewable energy options such as photovoltaic installations on their roofing systems. Overall, while some components may be less environmentally friendly than others, Bauder roofing systems can contribute to sustainable building practices.

In summary, Bauder roofs are a high-performance roofing system that provides excellent insulation, durability, and protection against the elements. They are made from high-quality materials and are installed by skilled professionals to ensure they perform to the best of their abilities. With proper maintenance and care, Bauder roofs can provide long-lasting protection for buildings and their occupants.
